History part I
Petes Musical career began in 1995 with the formation of Indie Folk Rock band 'Dorothy' - With Steve Cross on Guitars/mandolin and anything with strings, Buddha on Elevtric Guitar, Lofty on Drums and eventually Stig (later Jo 90) on Bass.
This band ended as it had begun and 'Pyroflo' was formed - as a skate punk band this outfit had a limited shelf life - Pete provided Vox and Occasional acoustic guitar with Phil Wilson on Guitars (he disapeared after this to go to uni and is now a road manager somewhere out there in the ether) - Paul 'Lofty' Lofty on drums (later left to be a dad) and Stig on Bass (he went on to perform in the highkly acclaimed Greebo and is now in Manchester playing with 'The Dead School' - interestingly enough joining forces with Buddha)
During our time with Pyroflo we supported Bristol Indie Rockers 'Glowbuzzers' - when vocalist Rob quit to pursue other interests Pete auditioned and became vocalist number 2 - with the new vocalist camre a new outlook - and so was 'SUBROSA' born. This band combined the driving Indiw rock of the Manics with the old school Grunge of Smashing Pumpkins. Andy 'Bass Man' Budge provided half of the backline with master of sticks Matt Thatcher - with Dave 'Musky' Devonold on guitars (Pete again providing Vox and occasional acoustic guitar - 2.5 years, 124 gigs and 4 releases later Andy left, the band contiued briefly with Lydia Finney on Bass, but when Lydia and Matt eventually had enough the band were no more.
It was in late 99' that an ex pupil of Andys came knocking, with the addition of EMo metal writing musical chamelion Nick 'Pumba' Coombes and a succession of differing drummers 'DRYRISER' stripped the paint from the walls - A special mention at this stage has to go to a Kirsty - sound engineer and suffolk supporting woman machine she introduced DRYRISER to its now legendary drummer Nathan 'Fim' Fimbow - I have never seen a drummer with so many arms - DRYRISER died having released but one EP 'Esteem for Children' when Fim decided, that living in knowle was not healthy and joined forces (and record contract) with 'BRIGADE' - he now lives and farms in Suffolk - and is greatly missed by the Bristol community - DRYRISER was no more.
